Author : Dr. Ajita Singh
Abstract
Indigenous knowledge forms the foundation of cultural identity, sustainable practices, and community resilience. In India, the preservation and dissemination of indigenous knowledge face significant challenges due to globalization, modernization, and the dominance of Westernized education systems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers a transformative opportunity to address these challenges by digitizing, archiving, and teaching indigenous knowledge within Indian education systems. This paper explores the potential of AI technologies, such as natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), and virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR), to preserve and teach indigenous knowledge in Indian education. It examines current initiatives, challenges, and future possibilities, presenting a roadmap for integrating AI into the preservation and dissemination of this invaluable cultural resource.
