Abstract
In English literature romantic age is considered start after the publishing of Lyrical Ballad by William Wordsworth and Samuel Talor Coleridge. It brought a revolutionary change in English literature. It was totally against the existing idea; like rationalism, objectivity materialistic society at that time. It more emphasized upon humanism, individual emotions and feeling. Romantics appreciated nature and were awed by it. It also emphasized on natural world and focus on the individual experience and emotions. It also emphasized on idealization of women and purity of childhood. Few writers of this age are also led emphasized on technology, what impact of technology on human life and behavior as we can see its impact upon human in present time. One of romantic writer MARY SHELLY’S WORK “FRANKENSTIN” (IN 1818). In this work Marry shelly depicted the danger of technology without emotions. Romantic age writer more emphasized emotion and passion over reason. As all we know that today also, we are becoming more and more rational and forgetting our responsibility towards nature which gives us real knowledge and pleasure. Romantics believe that nature was a living force, and that divinity was immanent in it. Some referred to nature as the ‘Language of God’. By reviewing this research paper, a clear concept of ROMANTIC AGE and its relevance in present time will be discussed in detail.
