Abstract
The prevention of radicalization has emerged as a significant subject in discussions on terrorism and sustainable development in developing nations in the 21st century. Broadly speaking, radicalization refers to the gradual adoption of extremist political or religious beliefs, both socially and psychologically. However, a narrower perspective can focus on violent radicalization, which involves accepting the use of force to accomplish specific objectives. Educational institutions can play a crucial role in preventing radicalization by promoting shared values, critical thinking, and life skills necessary for active participation in democratic societies. Teaching democratic values and empowering young people to navigate diverse social environments is essential for building resilience against social polarization and radicalization. As we know and discussed that educational institution play a crucial role in building resilience among young individuals and deterring them from being drawn towards radical ideologies or organizations. In addition, teachers often serve as the first observers of potential signs of radicalization and serve as important intermediaries for those affected, including the individuals, their families, and friends. To fulfill this role, teachers should actively engage with key factors that contribute to radicalization and address the concerns and grievances that are manipulated by radical religious and right-wing propaganda. In this article, the potential limitations of the role of the education sector in developing countries will be exposed so that we can understand the role of educational institutions in combating radicalization.
