Author : Dr. Prannath Singh Yadaw
Abstract
Inclusive growth has emerged as a central paradigm in the contemporary global economy, particularly in response to rising inequality, unemployment, and social exclusion. Unlike conventional growth models that emphasize Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expansion, inclusive growth focuses on equitable distribution of opportunities and outcomes across all sections of society. This study explores the concept and theoretical foundations of inclusive growth, highlighting its major components such as financial inclusion, skill development, social protection, and infrastructure expansion. With special reference to India, the paper analyses structural challenges including regional disparities, informal employment and persistent poverty that hinder inclusive development. It further evaluates government initiatives aimed at bridging these gaps and traces India’s evolutionary path toward a more equitable growth model. The findings underscore that inclusive growth is indispensable for sustainable development, social justice and long-term economic stability in a diverse and developing nation like India.
