DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY USAGE PATTERNS: IMPACT ON SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the connection between patterns of technology usage and social behavior of students of class 10 in Nawada Bihar. The study focuses on the students of private and government Secondary schools and assesses the impact of varying patterns of technology usage on the students’ social behavior including relationships with peers and family, communication, and social identity. The study is based on social behavior theory and utilizes social behavior assessment scales. The study concluded that there were significant relationships between the different patterns of technology usage and varying aspects of social behavior. The study found that technology improves social behavior in some aspects, but hinders one’s ability to interact. The study found face to face communication was negatively impacted and the ability to empathize decreased as the number of interpersonal relationships decreased. The study developed a framework on the impact of technology on social behavior which is useful for parents to understand the social technology impact for social education and educators and policy makers for the social technology impact on the education system.
